The 5063-5299 engine for the military M113 APC is a six-cylinder V6 configuration two-stroke diesel engine by Detroit Diesel with 53cid (Cubic Inch Displacement) per cylinder with normal aspiration, Model 6V53N. The 6V53N engine has a total displacement of 318 cubic inches and can produce up to 210 brake horsepower.
The 6V53N engine is used within the M113A1 and M113A2 Families of the M113 Armored Vehicle Family. The 5063-5299 engine was introduced to the M113 Family of Vehicles to replace the original gasoline powerpack improving safety. The two-stroke diesel has a maximum speed of 2850 RPM and a small, light package compared to its maximum torque rating.
