The 5063-5K90 engine is a six-cylinder V6 configuration two-stroke turbocharged, intercooled and aftercooled diesel engine with 53cid (Cubic Inch Displacement) per cylinder, Model 6V53TIA. The engine is equipped with a Detroit Diesel Electronic Control (DDEC) system for engine management. The 6V53TIA engine has a total displacement of 318 cubic inches and can produce up to 400 brake horsepower.
The 6V53TIA engine is used in the Canadian M113A3 Family. The 5063-5K90 engine was developed to provide the required increased power for the upgraded M113A3 family of vehicles developed for Canada by BAE Systems. The two-stroke diesel has a maximum speed of 2850 RPM and a small, light package compared to its maximum torque rating.
